Year 9 Geography field trip
Organise, edit, share
A group of year nine students take a geography field trip to Barcelona. We bring together, organise and edit their photos & video clips. We prepare factual information about the city and its culture. Next we record a narrative, add sound effects and a backing track. Then we finish it off with animated titles. We build a web site complete with photo gallery, travel blog and a video podcast in just one hour. A real eye opener that shows just how easy it is to start making compelling digital content in the class and then share it online.
Lastly we explain, in detail, how to build a contemporary classroom for podcasting.

The session was great, as I am new to using Mac's this was a great insight as to how easy and intuitive they can be. Since seeing the podcasting demo we have already started students working on their own podcast for revision material for their GCSE's. Its nice to see that not everything has to be complicated. I personally found the seminar very helpful to my professional development. I was able to reflect on my role as a teacher and think of ways to integrate the new skills into my school/classes.
