Barcelona
Year 9 Geography field trip
Organise, edit, share.
A group of year nine students take a geography field trip to Barcelona. We bring together, organise and edit their photos & video clips. We prepare factual information about the city and its culture. Next we record a narrative, add sound effects and a backing track. Then we finish it off with animated titles. We build a web site complete with photo gallery, travel blog and a video podcast in just one hour. A real eye-opener that shows just how easy it is to start making compelling digital content in the class and then share it online. Lastly, we explain in detail how to build a contemporary classroom for podcasting.
When scheduled at our own stores and training centres, these sessions take the form of a demonstration with plenty of time for audience interaction throughout. If you have a Mac laptop, we can provide the content and you are welcome to follow the demo. Alternatively, if you have a suitable sized group of teachers interested to take part, we can bring the session to your school and run it as a more traditional hands-on workshop.

Testimonials
It was clear to see from the demonstration how iLife empowers students to create professional looking projects. I was particularly impressed how easy it was to create the podcast and publish to the web in less than an hour!
Paul Bemment - IT Support Manager, Bitterne Park Secondary School
The session was great! As I am new to using Macs, this was a great insight as to how easy and intuitive they can be. Since seeing the podcasting demo, we have already started students working on their own podcast for revision material for their GCSEs. Its nice to see that not everything has to be complicated. The course was great, pitched just right.
Phil Messingham - ICT Teacher, Winton School in Andover
I personally found the seminar very helpful to my professional development. I was able to reflect on my role as a teacher and think of ways to integrate the new skills into my school/classes. In addition to this I found it useful as a Mac owner, as I have only owned a mac for 6 months and I gained valuable hints and tips. I am also not as afraid of Garageband and I have added it back onto my dock. Do continue to keep me informed of the seminars/events coming up. Thank you for your help. (The cake was good too.)
Paul Kenchington - Teacher of Science & Citizenship Coordinator, Avonbourne School, Bournemouth
The creative project was great: really useful and informative. Seeing how quick and easy it was to build a website and the quality of the results was a revelation. It gave me so many ideas to use in school.
