The culmination of months of collaboration, the Annual Education Summit brought together like-minded individuals from across the school ecosystem to share in the achievements of students participating in the Digital Genius Academy. 

 

From the unveiling of olympic themed art, to design solutions inspired by nature, the deliberately open-ended challenges revealed the plurality of student creativity as learners of all types were emboldened to pitch, present and perform their work.

 

The Annual Education Summit demonstrates, that whether in the foreground or the background of our lives, it is technology that makes us human, and that the greatest technology relies on the greatest human touch. We hope you’ll join us again in 2019.

Apple Distinguished Educator and Digital Genius Ambassador, Vickie, hosted three workshops focused on teaching and learning with iPad. These provided an opportunity to celebrate School participation in our Digital Genius challenges and assistance for those keen to explore the Digital Genius iPad learning revolution.

The quality of the work was evident as students took centre stage to explain how they had found a solution to our challenges. Incredible ideas, expertly explained and professionally presented. The  audience of teachers, who were all eager to get back to school having been inspired and amazed by what is possible with the Digital Genius programme.

Oscar Stringer | ADE

Apple Learning Specialist Oscar Stringer, shared his knowledge with a well received hands on discovery session focusing on using the immediate environment. Delegates were encouraged to take advantage of the striking architecture of the Attenborough Centre, quickly capturing their images using camera on iPad. These images were then used as a layer and developed further. 

The teachers in the audience enjoyed the creative experience and saw the possibilities of applying their new artistic techniques in other areas of the curriculum, for example in Maths.

Rachel Benjamin | Guest speaker

Direct from the classroom art teacher Rachel Benjamin, Hove Park School, enthralled the audience with her expert advice in utilising the iPad in the Arts. Sharing her good practice alongside tips and tricks in making digital art accessible and relevant to her students.

An enthusiastic supporter of this year’s Olympic art challenge, Rachel’s students contributed the AR exhibit in our final showcase.
